Teatr Biuro Podróży was founded in 1988 by Paweł Szkotak. The company does not follow the model of the traditional repertoire theatre. Most of the performances have been created according to the ideas and texts of Paweł Szkotak and the members of the theatre company. The company also work together to make the sets and costumes.
The search of the theatre's own language resulted in creating the Teatr Biuro Podróży's individual acting technique and ways of expression.
In 1995 Teatr Biuro Podróży participated in the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, where it won both the prestigious Fringe First and the Critics Award. In 1996 the company won Hamada Award at the Edinburgh Festival.
