Artonik założyli w 1992 roku artyści plastycy Caroline Selig i Alain Beauchet.

Compagnie Artonik proponuje warsztaty wymagające zdolności obserwacji i improwizacji, opierające się na wybranych tematach z życia dworca kolejowego. "Alicja: Stacja 1" to wymiana estetycznych doświadczeń 20 uczestników, studentów Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku i Młodzieżowego Klubu Twórczego Plama, pod kierunkiem teatru Artonik. Dziesięć dni zróżnicowanych prób skierowanych na uzyskanie artystycznej kreacji, ekskluzywna prezentacja, tylko raz, na Dworcu Kolejowym w Gdańsku w niedzielę 17 sierpnia popołudniu. To doświadczenie pozwoli zrealizować kolejny projekt "Alicja w Krainie Pociągów".

Alice: Station 1
Artonik was created in 1992 by the artists Caroline Selig and Alain Beauchet. As they say: "it was born from a desire to produce an artistic language with everything that constitutes us: first of all there is our grandparents' heritage of our fairground stallholder and of their universe made of proximity and traveling, there is our training in plastic arts, our experiences of acting, producing, composing and music as well as our own sensitivity towards fundamental dramas of life, love, death and exclusion of this everyday life that isn't intelligible anymore... We made a theatre for public areas because it was the only way to mix all those elements and live our destiny..." Creating for the street is for them all the more necessary and obvious as it corresponds to a real commitment. On the one hand, they want to meet different types of audience and make it live a common experience. Thereby they introduced very early an acting approach in their plastic installations in order to create a special relation based on intimacy and questioning. They developed a theatrical style made of images and gestures that influences the emotions of the spectators rather then their understanding. They prefer to stimulate the viewers' senses and imagination rather than to deliver a too obvious narration. On the other hand, they want to offer the street an artistic work, which bears some meaning, and create an authentic and sincere language for it. Hence each project involves a real "laboratory work". They take time for reflection, meeting and discussion, with artists from all domains as well as with people directly concerned with the themes they deal with. The Compagnie Artonik is located in La Friche Belle de Mai in Marseille. Artonik was present at many international festivals, in Aurillac, Chalon sur Saône, Malta Festival in Poznan, Tollwood in Munich and many many more. The show "Caliente" was presented in Gdańsk during FETA 2001. Artonik is supported by the DRAC, the French Ministry of Culture, the Conseil Régional Provence Alpes Côtes d'Azur, the Conseil Général des Bouches du Rhône and the city of Marseille. "Alice: Station 1" In collaboration with the Students of the Academy of the Fine Arts of Gdańsk and the Youth Creative Club Plama Author: Caroline Selig Artistic direction: Caroline Selig, Alain Beauchet Choreography: Barbara Mavro-Thalassitis Actors: Pôm Bouvier-B, Céline Naji, Jean-Serge Dunet, students of the Academia of the Fine Arts of Gdańsk and the Youth Creative Club Plama Year of production: 2003 - 2004 Railway Station Gdańsk 17th August 2003 Departure 14.39 Arrival 17.06 The company Artonik proposes observation, reflexion and improvisation workshops about different selected themes concerning the railway station's life.
